So why are we so bullish on the Chargers (2-4) beating the Bears (2-5)?The absence of Justin Fields (thumb), who won't play at QB for Chicago. Enter Tyson Bagent.Head coach Matt Eberflus has confirmed that Bagent will get the start against the Chargers. The undrafted rookie helped Chicago defeat Las Vegas, 30-12, in his first career start last week. But the Raiders are a hot me s, and Bagent threw for just 162 yards along with a TD.Timing is everything in these single-game elimination formats, too.The schedule only gets tougher for the Chargers, who likely won't be this much of a favorite again until early December in a home game against the Broncos.Los Angeles is loaded on offense with the trio of QB Herbert, RB Austin Ekeler, and WR Keenan Allen. Both the Bears (30th) and Chargers (32nd) have horrendous pa s defenses.Bottom Line: In a battle between Herbert and Bagent versus porous secondaries, we're going with the former to light up the scoreboard and get the Chargers somewhat back on track. Bagent will be asked to do more this week than manage the game, and we just can't see him keeping up in what could become a track meet at SoFi Stadium. They'll need to travel to Miami and outscore a team that leads the NFL at 34.3 points per game. The Dolphins have won their three home tilts by a combined score of 143-57. Before mustering 29 points against the Bills, the Patriots had only reached 20 points in one of their games.
